Newcastle's Keegan in 'ongoing talks' as West Ham's Curbishley walks out

Keegan is absent from Newcastle's training ground, as West Ham boss Alan Curbishley becomes the season's first casualty.
West Ham manager Alan Curbishley today quit his job, despite the fact that the Hammers have won two of their three league matches so far this season, their best start to a campaign for nine years.
Like Newcastle boss Kevin Keegan, Curbishley was said to have been in dispute with his board over transfer policy, which came to a head with the unexpected sale of one of his players on Monday.
In Newcastle, meanwhile, the club say they are in "ongoing talks" with Keegan, the man they welcomed back with open arms only eight months ago.
