Robin Hood actor quits show

Robin Hood actor Jonas Armstrong has announced he is leaving the BBC1 show.

The 27-year-old stars as the legendary outlaw opposite Keith Allen in the hit historical drama.

The third series of Robin Hood will be shown on BBC1 next year, and will run for 13 episodes.

Armstrong is set to bow out in an explosive season finale, but the show's producers have said the series will carry on without him.

The actor said playing Robin Hood was an "incredible experience" but he is looking for "new challenges".

He is said to have received numerous offers of big-screen roles after becoming a household name.
